A wooden summer house should feel very comfortable and since it is made of a hard natural element, you should prefer smoother effects such as putting a lot of soft pillows in the receiving area.  You can opt not to have a standard couch and in turn embrace the oriental side of the spectrum which has a generally minimalistic approach on design.

The bedrooms can be very basic without looking drab lacking in personality.  You should have only one window for every room so that the sun does not bake you in the afternoon but you can still enjoy the great sunrise when you draw the blinds up.  There is great potential in this kind of space and it is up to you to make things happen.
